Holon Cemetery
Also known as HaDarom Cemetery, בית העלמין דרום
Bat Yam, Tel Aviv District, Israel
The cemetery was established in 1964. Its area is 800 dunams. About 200,000 deceased are buried in the cemetery, and it is defined by the HaMossad LeBituach Leumi, as a "closed cemetery". Despite being within the jurisdiction of Bat Yam, many call it the "Holon Cemetery", and this is because when it opened the only entrance to it was from the eastern gate, from the direction of Holon. Only after several years was the northern gate built from the direction of Bat Yam. In the Holon cemetery there are many tombstones in memory of communities that perished in the Holocaust.
