Add PhotosEstablished in 1900. Shortly after the first settlers came to the area, a plot for a cemetery was bought from Bjami Ingimundson for $3 for 50 square rods. The Ingimundson family had chosen a spot for the burial of a son in 1900 and it was the land around this that became the cemetery.
In 1913 the cemetery became registered with Land titles as the property of the Big Point Community. In 1926 the Ladies Aid volunteered to take charge of the cemetery and look after the grass cutting, cleaning of the graves, & caretaking the grounds. In 1947 they started in motion the securing of granite markers at a cost of $6 each for all unmarked graves. Today [circa 2022] the cemetery is looked after by a committee of people.
The cemetery is in 2 sections, north & south of a dividing space.

A part of the story of the town and its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 19nn is told in the volume "Langruth Along the Crocus Trail", especially starting on page 54. A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society (reference #0322), as transcribed by a member or members in 1996 and updated in 2022. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the MGS Manitoba Name Index (or MANI).
