St. James Church dates back to the 14th century with a tower featuring gargoyles on each corner. Alterations were carried out in the mid 1970's including a new vestry, toilet and boiler house. There are also 17th century Jacobean wall monuments of the Boteler family which can be found in the chancel and small brasses in the north aisle.

The churchyard features a conservation area and burials still take place albeit in the newer section which can be found to the north of the church via a foot path called Coffin Path that leads back towards the village. Cremated remains are still buried around the edge of the older churchyard.
