Ardcarn Church of Ireland church was built c.1750 upon the site of where the 5th century St Beo-Aedh Abbey once stood. The church was enlarged in 1800, repaired following a fire in 1858 and remains open to this day. The surrounding graveyard predates the current church, and contains various tombs and upright and recumbent grave markers dating back to 1688. The graveyard has always been and continues as a joint catholic-protestant burial ground.

The old graveyard surrounds the church and the adjacent separately walled new graveyard extends up the hill to the rear.
