First opened in 1864 it is likely some burials took place in this Cemetery as early as 1860. The Cemetery contains the graves of many local pioneers and persons of foreign nationality who came to Dunolly seeking gold during the Gold Rush which was at it's height during the 1850's and 60's.

It has a large Chinese section but unfortunately most of the graves have been obliterated over the years and very few headstones remain at the present time. There is an intact Chinese Funerary Oven located within the grounds which was used to burn offerings to assist the Chinese spirits in the after life.

Like many cemeteries located in the Golden Triangle a large proportion of the burials here are un-marked and many common graves exist which contain the remains of several individuals.
