The church was founded on September 18, 1913 by J A Cleckler, Pearl Cleckler, T A Caton, Rebecca Caton, Madison Hubbard, Joycy Hubbard, Lucy Robinson and Maud Robinson. The earliest burials in the adjoining cemetery are dated 1917. Prior to the founding Pates Chapel, many attended Pleasant Hill church. Pleasant Hill-Scott cemetery still remains.
Directions: From Thorsby, travel county road 50 west about 2.3 miles, turn left for about .3 miles, the cemetery is on the right.
