African American Cemetery. This is a very old cemetery that is located behind a house on Guys Chewalla Road. You have to go through the property owners yard to get to it. I do not have photos for all graves because there are a lot of very old unmarked graves here. The information about the unmarked people came mostly from ancestry.com while doing family tree research on the Luster tree and death certificates I have found online, as well as a few word of mouth.

From the web: The cemetery is across the road from the Olive Hill Cemetery. Not directly across. It is behind the old Austin house,under the hill. An effort was made recently to clean this cemetery. This is a very old cemetery dating back to pre-civil war day. The James Tate family and his children buried their slaves here. The Tate family came to McNairy County before 1840 from Georgia and brought their slaves with them. The Tate family cemetery was to the east and the slave cemetery to the north of the home place. The cemetery was used until a few years ago when Adams Chapel started a new, more accessible cemetery. It is unknown how many are buried in this old cemetery. Known buried here are Herman Campbell, Diana Ramer, Clyde Campbell, Uther Campell, Leonard Kirk and Leonard Kirk Jr.

From the intersection of Butler Chapel Rd. & TN-234 N, north of Chewalla, travel east on Butler Chapel Rd. for 2.8 mi., turning into a private driveway. With permission, walk about 400' north of the roadway to this very old & unmaintained cemetery.
