Ffrench Mausoleum
Monivea, County Galway, Ireland
Set within Monivea Wood shown in some sources as a Chapel it is infact a mausoleum which contain the remains of Robert Percy Ffrench, the last male landlord of Monivea Demesne and those of his daughter, Kathleen, who commissioned the building of the mausoleum. Its construction was completed in 1900.
Designed by Francis Persee it is a mock castle built of Wicklow granite with an interior floor of white and grey marble. The rear of the building contains five stained glass windows which illuminate the alter , marble sculptures and staircase leading to the crypt.
