St James the Great Churchyard
St Kew, Cornwall Unitary Authority, Cornwall, England
St Kew is a small village a short distance from the A.39. The present church was built in the 15th century on the site of a much earlier chapel. It is dedicated to St James and St Kew.
The original churchyard surrounds the church on all four sides, with the valley rising steeply to the north. This I will call the Lower Churchyard. A path leads to the Upper Churchyard which opened in 1931.
The Upper Churchyard is divided by a "path" down the centre from South to North.
For the purpose of FAG visitors to find any listed grave I have divided the Churchyard into the following Areas.
Lower Churchyard = LC
Middle Churchyard = MC - A steep area to the left of path from LC to UE
Upper Garden of Remembrance = UGR (Rows 37-38)
Lower Garden of Remembrance = LGR
Entering the Upper area from the Church
the Area to your Right
= the Eastern Section (earliest) = UE
the Area to your Left
= the Western section = UW
The Rows are numbered from the South( Church )end 1- 38
The Plots are lettered A-H outwards from the central area.
