The Colline de Sion (French for the Hill of Zion) is a hill in Lorraine, France that stretches from the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Sion in the town of Saxon-Sion on the northeast side of the hill to the village of Vaudémont on the west side. The Barres Monument, a 22m high column erected in memory of the French writer and politician Maurice Barres (1862-1923), sits on a high point about 2.5 km from the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Sion on the Saxon-Sion side of the hill. It is the highest point on the Lorraine Plateau, and on a clear day Mont Blanc can be seen in the distance. The Colline de Sion is also the setting for the 1913 novel "The Sacred Hill (La Colline Inspirée)" by Maurice Barres that tells the story of three monks who turn the hill into a mystical place of worship.
