Add PhotosThe Ely Holy Trinity Parish Church was housed in the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral from 1566 to 1938. The chapel hosted services, including baptisms, weddings and funerals, before being returned to the Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral in 1938.
This arrangement allowed the Lady Chapel to act as a distinct parish space within the larger cathedral structure, with its own entrance and cemetery within the cathedral grounds. During this period, the chapel featured pews, heating, and, at one point, sun blinds, which were all removed upon its return to the cathedral in 1938.
This parish church is not to be confused with Ely Cathedral, once known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Ely, which has its own burials.
