Woodburn Cemetery was dedicated on 28 November 1873. The earliest legible grave is dated 13 September 1873. Many of the occupants were brought to the cemetery by boat, many by request.

The cemetery has four denominations, Salvation Army, Methodist, Roman Catholic and Anglican portions, the portions are no longer signed, most likely due to flooding. Some of the stones are difficult to read due to lichen growth. Some of the older sandstone headstones are badly eroded.
