Economy Village is the third and final home of the Harmony Society. This cemetery contains members of the Harmony Society as well as some of their hired workers and members of the workers' families. The cemetery was originally surrounded by the Harmonist orchard.

In keeping with their customs, members' graves are not marked; however, some of the workers do have stones. Some nineteenth century newspaper articles say a ground plan was strictly kept; no such record exists at this time. There are multiple Death Registers. Almost all of the entries in these registers were made well after the fact and contain discrepancies from register to register. These discrepancies are noted in the individual memorials.

Members of the Harmony Society practiced celibacy after they joined; however many members came as families — a married couple with children or widow/widower with children. The workers had no requirement for celibacy. In fact, the Society appears to have preferred to hire families as they were more stable members of the work force than single men or women.

The cemetery also contains the remains of an unidentified man found during the construction of the library and the remains found when the Indian mound was leveled.

Old Economy Village, including the cemetery, is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and is a Pennsylvania Historic site. Old Economy was designated as a National Historic Site on June 23, 1965. The cemetery is fenced and the gate is kept locked. Admission is by appointment only. (724)-266-4500.
