This cemetery had its first internment about 1848 with the burial of Andrew Barton. It became a community cemetery about 1856. In 1994, all bodies were removed and reburied at the Ellard Family Cemetery. The original site of the cemetery is now covered by a runway of the Birmingham International Airport. There are no known bodies left on site, and no new burials since the construction.
