Historic congregation founded in 1794, is the oldest African Methodist Episcopal congregation in the nation. The current church building was completed in 1890 and is the oldest church property in the United States continuously owned by African Americans.

The founder, Bishop Richard Allen, his second wife, Sarah Bass Allen, and Bishop Morris Brown are the only individuals entombed in the church crypt.
