First Brisbane Burial Ground was established in 1825 at what is now Skew Street near the North Quay on the northern approach to the William Jolly Bridge.

The First Brisbane Burial Ground at Skew Street was Brisbane's first official cemetery, established in 1825 for convicts and soldiers of the Moreton Bay Penal Settlement. Operating until 1843, it holds the remains of approximately 265 people, though the land was later auctioned and built upon.

Today, the site lies underneath local roads—including parts of the northern approach to the William Jolly Bridge and Roma Street—and E.E. McCormick Place. While most graves remain intact beneath the bitumen, a few children's burials and headstones were relocated to the Toowong Cemetery in 1881. A commemorative fountain in E.E. McCormick Place marks the historic Convict Cemetery.
