All this according to a published history of Coal County.

On the Collins farm two miles south of Clarita on Highway 48 and about 200 yards southwest of the Collins home. General was his first name and Mule was his last name, though he said his real surname was Wayverne. His old pack mule is buried beside him.

He claimed that he was a scout for General Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn and survived only because he was off on a scouting trip. He lost his arm in the battle.
