This cemetery was located and identified ca 2008 by a man who was searching for records of his 3rd great grandparents Cyrus Sprague Sr. (1792-1869) and his wife Rebecca Purrington Sprague (1788-1863). Cyrus and his father James Sprague were members of Rev. Aaron Baxter's Chenango Colony (see #4). Cyrus and Rebecca had a son Cyrus Jr. (1828-1896) who married Lucinda Wright (1835-1917) (they buried in Addison Hill/Woods Corners Cemetery see #2) which precipitated the Wright family search. Early on in this man's search he visited a local town historian whose records indicated that Cyrus Sr. and Rebecca were buried in the Old Wright Cemetery. Since there was no record of this cemetery or its burials, he was referred to the Eaton/Thompson/Wright Cemetery (#3). Decades later he located a lady who told him that she had an old abandoned cemetery on her property. She granted him permission to access it which he has done many times since. As a result of these many visits, he discovered dozens of head and foot slate markers and three Wright related headstones. Found were Lucinda Sprague nee Wright's brother Reuben Wright (1833-1899), her mother Abigail nee Cunningham Wright (1808-1841) and her half brother Daniel A. Wright III (1857-1922). These headstones remain there to this day. The researcher has, therefore, become assured that this is, indeed, the Old Wright Cemetery.
