Camp Madison-Wolf Grave-Civil War Cemetery
Huntsville, Madison County, Arkansas, USA
This cemetery has four graves in it. It is located on private property at the backside of a hayfield, in a small grove of trees on the bank of a small stream that flows into War Eagle River. During the Civil War, Camp Madison (also referred in a few places as Fort Madison), the winter camp of 900+ soldiers in Mitchell's 14th Arkansas Infantry, C. S. A., was located 1/4 mile from this small cemetery. The 14th Ark. Infantry set up winter camp here on December 8, 1861, and remained until March 3, 1862, when they were ordered to leave and fought in the Battle of Pea Ridge which took place on March 7th and 8th, 1862. We have found 4 graves here on private property, in a small grove of trees on the bank of a small stream that flows into War Eagle River, at the backside of a hayfield.
