The UK Supreme Court was established by the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 and started operations on 1 October 2009. It is housed in the building of the former Middlesex Guildhall (which also now houses the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council). The Guildhall was built in the early 20th century in a late flowering of neogothic. It was used in different guises by the County of Middlesex. Concerning memorials, it is from this earlier period that the memorials were created, concerning the First World War and the Second World War.
