Add PhotosFuller Cemetery is located on a rocky knoll in section 18 of the town of Clyman, Dodge County, on private property. One grave marker has been located, although there may be additional graves.
John Griffis Fuller, his wife Catherine (Christian), and their several children, lived on these eighty acres of land in the town of Clyman, Dodge County, in the 1850's and 1860's. This is confirmed by the 1859 plat book for Dodge County and the 1860 federal census. By 1870 they had moved to Iowa. Their land was purchased by a neighbor, Andrew Miller, confirmed by the 1870 census and 1873 Dodge County plat book. By 1890, the land had gone to another neighbor, Joseph Metzger, based on the plat book of that year. They owned the land at least through 1910, based on the 1910 plat book.
The 1910 plat book was the first to show a cemetery at this location. Undoubtedly, this cemetery was here long before then. This was also the first plat map to show Mengel Cemetery and School Graveyard #3. Both of these cemeteries saw their first burials in 1850. Burials at Fuller Cemetery likely occurred in the late 1840's or 1850's.
Although there is not enough information to ascertain who is buried in this cemetery, the burial or burials are most likely members of the Fuller family. The Fuller children listed in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses are all accounted for. However, there are gaps of seven and four years between three of the children. It is likely that there were children born in these gaps that did not live long, and thus were buried on the property.
While the grave or graves could be those of the Miller or Metzger families, or another neighbor, the evidence points to the Fuller family as the most likely source of the graves.
