Add PhotosThe Cemetery of the Williamson Hawkins family was part of the land acquired by Republic Steel to form the Town of Thomas. Members of the Hawkins family who were buried in this cemetery were moved to the Elyton Cemetery and only marble corner stones and bases remain to show where the graves had been. However, many of the slaves' graves were left in situs with no inscriptions to tell their names. Grave sites can be determined by sunken rectangular areas and fieldstone markers. Site visited by Madge Barefield in 1983. S.28 T.17 R.3W
