Sadly the tornado that ripped through on April 27, 2011 took with it the trees seen in this photo as well as several others in the cemetery. The front wall took some damage as well.
This cemetery was established in the 1840s by Nathan Anderson for slaves, family and friends. His children were George T., T. Emmons, Mary E., Abigail P., Theodore M., James M., Elizabeth M., Robert F., Margaret J., and Nathan C. Anderson. The Ringgold Garden Club assumed the care of the cemetery as a project soon after they were organized in 1935. Mabel Adams, great grand-daughter of Nathan Anderson, was the chairman of the cemetery committee for over thirty years and was instrumental in collecting Nathan Anderson Cemetery perpetual funds. This marker, given by Louise Acheson Bandy, great-great-granddaughter of Nathan Anderson.
