This cemetery has graves of Georgia's early settlers who began to homestead lands ceded by the Native Americans after the War of 1812. The cemetery's namesake, Jones Douglass, was a veteran of the War of 1812 and credited as being one of the charter members of the area's Level Creek Methodist Church (est. 1823) and starting its first Sunday School in his home. According to the Gwinnett County Historical Society Death Index, twelve persons are buried here and their surnames listed as Armstrong (1), Douglass (3), King (2), Moore (3), Plunkett (2), and Wisdom (1).

The cemetery is located upon the city property of Sims Lake Park, 4600 Suwanee Dam Rd, Suwanee, GA. The cemetery sits atop a wooded ridge which overlooks an asphalt trail which is approximately 300 feet down range and runs along the western side of Sims Lake. The cemetery is enclosed by a fence, and its gate is locked. A portion of the fence line is (but the monuments are not) visible from the trail.
