These are only a few of the graves in the Poole Family Cemetery, off Heardville Road, Forsyth County, Georgia. The cemetery is extremely overgrown with poison ivy, etc. and is shadowed by trees so it is quite dark. It contains Poole, Fowler and Hawkins graves, mostly of Dr. M. L. Poole, an early doctor, his wife and other family members. It is impossible to photograph the entire cemetery although it is small. Other graves are behind the bushes to the right.

In addition to being a physician, Dr. Poole owned and operated the Mill on Settendown Creek. Called 'Poole's Mill' it was originally owned by Cherokee Chief, George W. Welch who sold it to Jacob Scudder about the time of the Cherokee removal from Georgia in 1838 - 1839.

In the interest of local history, the cemetery desperately needs to be restored.
