Marker placed August 24, 1958.

There is a wooden covered seating area behind this marker.

Crabapple, one of the oldest cemeteries in Belmont Co, is near the Harrison Co. border, 2 miles south of New Athens.

It is on road north of Uniontown, off SR 9, in an area of reclaimed strip mines. The original Presbyterian Church here was the first and largest in Wheeling Township.

In 1803 Robert and William McCullough helped to organize the church. The first sermon was preached by Rev. John Rea, to a congregation of forty members, which included the McCulloughs, McKibbons, Campbells, Snedekers, Brokaws and Merritts.

A plaque in the cemetery shows the following ministers:
Joseph Anderson 1800-1804
John Rea 1805-1810
Thomas B. Clark 1813-1818
Salmon P. Cowles 1819-1826
Jacob Coon 1834-1838
Moses Allen 1839-1846
M. Williamson 1847-1853
W. R. Vincent 1853-1866
