Towamensing Cemetery, also known as Lower Towamensing Cemetery and New Towamensing Cemetery, was established in 1873 as non-sectarian and is located at the intersection of Fireline Road and Third Street on the north side of Palmerton. Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery adjoins the cemetery in an enclave to the west. The boundary between the two is a line of huge trees and stumps, and a drainage ditch. Stony Ridge Pet Cemetery is located on the north side of the Third Street entrance and is part of this cemetery. The oldest graves are in the northwest part of the cemetery. The newest graves are usually in the two most southern sections which includes the Garden of Devotion that consists almost entirely flat grave markers. Saint John's Church Cemetery is just west of Third Street on the Fireline Road (on the other side of the church). It mostly contains older graves than in Towamensing Cemetery.
