Macedonia Cemetery – Older Section Fieldstone & Grassline Burials

Several burials in the original section of Macedonia Cemetery remain unmarked or only partially marked today. These graves are identifiable only by ground disturbance, fieldstones, and handmade concrete markers that have eroded over time. In the waist‑high grass along the woods line, at least three distinct burial sites are visible. Each shows the characteristic soil settling and stone placement typical of early rural burials in this cemetery.

This area represents the earliest phase of Macedonia's history, predating modern granite markers and funeral‑home installations. The graves in this section were placed by family and community members, often using fieldstones or poured‑concrete slabs that have since weathered, broken, or sunk into the ground. Although these burials no longer have readable headstones, their locations are still evident in the landscape and should be recognized as part of the cemetery's documented history.
