Lon Moore born in Caldwell Texas in 1844. His father was Daniel Boone Moore and cousin to Daniel Boone. Lon Moore's mother was related to the family of Jim Bowie.
Moore's family settled on Hondo Creek west of Biry in 1852. At the age of 12 he was involved in his first Indian fight.
