Haym Salomon Memorial Park was established by several well-meaning citizens who had purchased Philadelphia Memorial Park several years before. Like Philadelphia Memorial Park, it was also established as a lawn-type cemetery; a survey of the Jewish cemeteries in the Philadelphia area found that many were ill-kept, and the use of flat, bronze markers would help maintain a better standard of quality and dignity for maintenance. The cemetery was developed to serve the needs of people residing in West Philadelphia and the neighboring counties. It was named in honor of Jewish Revolutionary patriot and financier Haym Salomon (1740 – 1785). At least three suburban congregations have purchased sections in Haym Salomon Memorial Park, including Temple Adath Israel of the Main Line, Reformed Congregation Beth David, and Congregation Beth El-Ner Tamid.
IN 1953-54, a large number of interments were removed from Belvue Cemetery in Philadelphia to Haym Saolmon Memorial Park. Among the congregational, family, and sectarian plots removed to Haym Salomon Memorial Park are the Brothers Bialostok (the Bialystoker Beneficial Association); Congregation Children of Israel (Chevra B'nai Israel); Pennsylvania Lodge #19, Independent Order Brith Abraham of the United States of America; Chevra Achewa Chesed Anshe Cheval; Congregation of the Friendly Sons of Nezin (Congregation Ahavas Achim-Anshe Nezin); Liberty Lodge #6, Independent Order Brith Abraham of the United States of America; Mrs. Anna Berman; Mrs. Jennie Cohen; Congregation of Rubins (Cehvra B'nai Reuben); Congregation Children of Jacob (Cehvra B'nai Jacob); United Brethren Sick Beneficial Association; Congregation Kesher Israel; Morris Rosenberg; and the United Brothers Bris Achem (Independent Bris Achem Sick Beneficial Association, A.K.A. Independent United Brethren Sick Beneficial Association or the B'rith Achim Sick Benevolent Association).
Today, Haym Salomon Memorial Park has been supplemented with a Community Mausoleum and the Friends of Noah Pet Memorial Park.
