The first recorded burial was Talcutt Morehouse, 8 years old, in 1785. There is evidence of earlier burials marked by ordinary field stones, with no names or dates. The earliest birth dates were Lucretia Burr, born 1708; Lemual Stuart, born 1710, and wife Rachel, 1725. Other early families were Armstrong, Morehouse, Raymond, Watson, Southard, Clark, Weeks, and Miller, among others who came mostly from Connecticut and Long Island, by way of the Hudson Valley to settle between the eastern shore of Ballston Lake and Round Lake before the Revolutionary War. Gen. Samuel Clark, Capt. Titus Watson, and Lieut. Samuel English who fought in the above mentioned war are buried here. Plaques laid by the SRTGA HSDAR now mark the graves of those and others who served.
