The gate was dedicated in 1992, culminating a community effort to document, clean up, and fence the once obscure all black burying ground. Located on land originally donated by Ollie Scott when a field hand died in the 1920's, the sandy land cemetery has grown to include about fifty graves, the majority unmarked. All known graves have been surveyed and staked, with the hope that many will be marked by families in the future.

The grounds were clean and well mowed on my visit.
