Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Inc. (PVMG) started acquiring land in 1957, with the purchase of 7.25 acres. The first buiral was in 1958. Today, the cemetery encompasses ten times its original size at about 77 acres with 2/3 still undeveloped, making it the county's biggest cemetery. This land was once owned by Jacob VanMetre and the family graveyard can be located within PVMG. The current owner of PVMG is Stewart Enterprises, Inc., a New Orleans, Louisiana, burial & cemetery business.
