This cemetery contains a Confederate memorial erected in 1880 by the Ladies Monumental Association of Frederick County honors the last resting place of 408 Confederates who died principally at the battles of Antietam September 17, 1862, and Monocacy July 9, 1864.


The Frederick Chapters of the Daughters of the Confederacy employed parties to transfer these unknown men from unmarked graves in Maryland. A statue of a Confederate soldier resting on his rifle surmounts a pedestal.
