Calvary Cemetery is a Catholic cemetery serving Duluth's population. It was founded by Bishop James McGolrick in 1890, and is the resting place for clergy of the Diocese of Duluth who have perished since that time. This is the second location for Calvary Cemetery with its first location at the top of 8th Avenue East in Duluth. This site was established in 1881 on 11 acres of land. It was closed in 1914 when the Feigh Hospital for Crippled Children was built on that location, and the bodies buried there were moved to this cemetery. Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery were also buried at this first location, but their remains were relocated in 1912 when Gethsemane Cemetery was established, which is located on their campus shared with The College of St. Scholastica. A listing of burials can be found on the cemetery's website. Memorials have been created for all burials as of mid-2019.
