Chilton Cemetery
Burlington Township, Becker County, Minnesota, USA
The first marriage in Burlington Township was that of Timothy Wheeler Chilton and Amelia Ryder on Nov. 24th, 1873. When their one year old son, Willie, died in May 1876, they buried him on a hill on their farm. Soon others were buried there and the Chilton's donated the land to establish a community burial ground. It was named Oak Cemetery but became known as the Chilton Cemetery.
It is probably the oldest cemetery in this part of the state. For many years it was allowed to flourish in its natural state. It is a restful place with interesting old stones and their legends. It is located about two miles north of Frazee, MN
