This active cemetery was established about 1869. It is administered by the Oak Ridge Cemetery Association which was established in 1884. It is believed that a group of women of the village went door-to-door to collect enough money to buy a piece of land to be used for a cemetery.

Land was purchased from the estate of Thomas W. Pittman, who died in 1882.

In 1964, the Association purchased an adjacent 66 foot frontage lot from Matt Kau. Recently an additional 3 acres from the Harold Chapman estate was also purchased, 1.27 acres in the town and .73 in the village.

There is no known map of the cemetery. The burial records prior to 1910 were lost long ago. All burials prior to 1910 were taken from tombstone transcriptions by Mabel Thomas.
