Athearn Cemetery

Athearn Cemetery is found on Route 43 in Anson, just before the Anson/Starks town line. The cemetery land is inextricably linked to the Athearn family. Sarah (Perkins) and her husband Thomas Athearn were the first to be interred there. Five of seven of their children are also buried there. The cemetery holds the remains of several of the town's long-standing families including Barron, Brackett, Dinsmore, Greenleaf, and Hilton to name a few. In 1904 the cemetery was officially transferred to the Town of Anson. It remains an active cemetery in today (2026).
