CARTHAGE MAN DROWNED SUNDAY IS KNOWN MAN
Morgan Powell and electrician whose horse was in Carthage, but who is quite well known in Plymouth and St Mary, was drowned Sunday afternoon about 4:30 in Carthage lake.
Mr. Powell was swimming with his nephew, Francis Powell, and when last seen was disappearing around a bend in the lake. His body was found just before 9 o'clock Monday morning about 200 feet from where he went in some twenty-five feet from shore. It was evident that from the positon of the body that the swimmer had been sized with cramps. An inquest was held Monday morning.
Arrangements for the funeral services have not been entirely perfected, however, according to word received by St. Marys relativies, the funeral will probably be held at St. Marys Baptist church Wednesday afternoon with burial in St. Marys cemetery.
Mr. Powell was a son of the late Robert Powell of St. Marys. He is survived by his devoted and grief stricken wife, several brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends. His tragic death comes as a shock to relatives and friends who join in extending sympaths to Mrs. Powell. A full life sketch will be given next week.
