Dr. Peter DeWitt died Feb. 9, 2006, at age 89.
Dr. DeWitt was born Aug. 11, 1916, in East Orange, N.J. He graduated from Union College and Cornell University Medical College. During World War II, he served in the Army Medical Corps in Europe. He moved to Oakridge in 1951 and in 1955 to Portland, where he was a family doctor in private practice. He was a past president of the medical staff of Holladay Park Hospital. In 1945, he married Frances Glass.
Survivors include his wife; sons, John and Paul; daughter, Anne Keebaugh; and three grandchildren.
