Died at 4 a.m. Friday, April 30, 1993, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 73, a native of Plattenville and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 10 a.m. until 1:40 p.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 2 p.m. Monday, conducted by Father Stephen J. Hymel. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Chuck Entremont, Betty and Carol Lyons, Patricia and Chuck Haley, Mimi and C. Keith Paxton, and Denise and Michael Cole; a sister, Emma White; eight grandchildren, Chuckie and Joey Entremont, Wade, Scottie, Craig and Curt Lyons, Brittany and Emily Cole; and five great-grandchildren. All survivors reside in Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by husband, Joseph E. Mire Jr.; three brothers, Alfred, Doyle and Clarence Melancon; and four sisters, Lucy Taylor, Beulah Barnett, Louise Wilcox and Alida Melancon. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, the Blue Army, the Perpetual Adoration Group at Our Lady of Mercy, and was a former longtime member of St. Gerard Catholic Church.
