He is survived by one daughter, Tina Marie Thompson of Northbrook, IL; two sisters, Esther Flackus of Scottsdale, AZ and Violette Adams of Sacramento, CA; two brothers, Harold J. (Dorothy) Thompson of Waukegan, IL and Thomas Maynard (Juanita) Thompson of Franklin, WI; 12 nieces and six nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou, in 1987; his parents; sister, Alba (Bill) Owen; brother, Thornwald (Lorraine); sister-in-law, Lorraine Thompson; and nephew, Sherman Flackus.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II for 42 months in the South Pacific, with the Combat Engineers 592nd Infantry Regiment. He worked as a carpenter in the Waukegan area 51 years and retired from the State of Illinois as manager of the Libertyville diver's testing station.
Louis was a member and two time Past Commander of the Homer Dahringer American Legion Post #281 of Waukegan and a member of the Waukegan VFW Post. He is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waukegan and was a former choir member.
Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2007 from 6-8 PM and Tuesday, February 27, 2007 from 10-11 AM with a Funeral Service at 11AM, at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 Cemetery Road, Gurnee. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 824 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085 would be appreciated.
