ILLINOIS CITY -- Mrs. Stella May McGinnis, 82, of Illinois City, died at 4:07 this morning in the Oak Glen Nursing Home, Coal Valley, where she had been a patient four years.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 2:30 in the Illinois City Methodist Church, with the Rev. Clarence A. Burnett, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Illinois City Cemetery. The George M. Whittich Funeral Home, Muscatine, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McGinnis, a daughter of Randall and Ester Powell Hayes, was born Jan. 2, 1878, in Drury Township, Illinois. She had been a life resident of Illinois City until moving to the Coal Valley Home in 1956.
She was married to John Leonard McGinnis April 4, 1900, in Illinois City, where she was a member of the Illinois City Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond, Reynolds, and Ralph and Norman, both of Illinois City; four daughters, Mrs. Herschel Schmidt, Milan, Mrs. Chester Fetters, Bettendorf, Mrs. Leonard Kadel, Jy, and Mrs. H. B. Sweigart, Illinois City; a brother, L. V. Hayes, Illinois City; two sisters Miss Bessie Hayes and Mrs. Florence Barton, both of Muscatine; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McGinnis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
