Mr. Whitt Ira Perkins, age 87, of the Raven Nest Branch section of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Tuesday April 26, 2005 in a Lebanon, VA hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, VA he was the son of the late Joseph Lorenzo Dow Perkins & Mariah Honaker Perkins Goodwin. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local # 1760 and a member of the Lesters Chapel Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Joyce Perkins, eight sisters Ida Grindstaff, Ethel Addington, Virgie Pruett, Myrtle Rasnake, Sarah Huffman, Lucille (Thelma) Asbury, Elizabeth Perkins & Violet Perkins, two brothers Henry Perkins & Bernard Perkins, five half sisters Cosby Osborne, Mary Ann Cook, Bessie Ball, Polly Church & Caroline Deel and two half brothers Cary Perkins & Rufus Ayers Perkins.
Mr. Perkins is survived by four sons: Franklin Rufus Perkins of Pounding Mill, VA, Roger Atlas Perkins & wife Mozelle of Cedar Bluff, VA, Carlos Whitt Perkins & special friend Nancy of Cedar Bluff, VA & Robert Dwayne Perkins & wife Vickie of Shortts Gap, VA; four daughters: Mary Ruth Stevens & husband Granville of Cleveland, OH, Freda Mae Ruble of the home, Bonnie Carlee Whited & husband Paul of Cedar Bluff, VA & Sandra Regina Diana Grimmett & husband Gerald of Cedar Bluff, VA; one brother Frank Perkins of Cedar Bluff, VA; one sister Kathleen Madril of Oregon; one step sister Evelyn Goodwin Keen; one step brother Willard Goodwin; 30 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 30, 2005 in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA with Rev. Jim Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
The Family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Perkins after 1:00 P.M. Thursday and at any time on Friday.
