Elsie Ard
OXFORD Elsie Spears Ard, 84, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Sardis Community Nursing Home. She was retired from Big Yank in Water Valley as a quality control inspector. She was a resident of Oxford for over 42 years and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was the widow of Erskin V. Ard.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford with Dr. David Ard officiating. Burial will be in Thaxton Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Ellen Ard Conlee of Myrtle, Charla Ard Conlee of Clinton and Willie Ard Stepp of Sardis; one son, Dr. David Ard of Little Rock; two sisters, Miriam Mize of Thaxton and Sylvia Maynard of Oxford; two brothers, Dr. D.E. Spears of Water Valley and Dr. K.D. Spears of Oakland, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
