Mr. Gentry was a son of the late Charles Spurgeon Gentry and Mattie Belle Suit Gentry. He had lived in Avery County, North Carolina for 30 years and was retired from the North Carolina Forestry Department. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working. His work was his hobby. He was of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to his parents six brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Betty Gentry of Banner Elk, NC; one daughter Anita Crawley and husband, Nathan of Morganton, NC; two sons, Eric Gentry and wife, Billie of Minneapolis, NC and Rick Gentry and wife, Debbie of Banner Elk, NC; eight grandchildren, Logan Gentry, Dillon Gentry, Laken Gentry, M'Lynne Crawley, Andrew Crawley, Tyler Gentry, Keegan Crawley and Jarred Gentry; one brother, Charles Gentry and wife, Ruby of Glade Spring, VA.
Graveside Services for Bobby J. Gentry will be conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, February 19, 2009 in the Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery with Rick McGarry officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday morning at the Frost Funeral Home from 9 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. prior to going in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Logan Gentry, Dillon Gentry, Andrew Crawley, Keegan Crawley, Tyler Gentry and Jarred Gentry.
