Isaac G. Wilkerson was the son John R. Wilkerson (1808-1896) and Mary Gaunce (1817-1893). He was the sixth of eleven children.

He was a Civil War Veteran serving the Confederacy.

He married Nancy Elizabeth Wilkins on 12 Aug 1880 at McDonald, Barry Co., MO. They had ten children: Martin Gilbert (1881-1938), Bessie Jane (Washburn - Hall)(1883-1975), Wilmer R. ( 1885-1969), Rosie Ethel (Morrison) (1887-1908), Thomas Jefferson (1889-1964), Isaac G., Jr. (1892-1971), Grace Violate (Miller-Harris-O'Toote-Rockwell) (1894-1969), Jesse D. Wilkerson (1896-1990), Raymond Andrew (1899-1971), and Benjamin Franklin (1904-1988).

His tombstone is shared by his wife, Nancy, here at Ketchum Cemetery. However the double marble marker is engraved as "WILKINSON" rather than "WILKERSON". It is unknown whether this was an engraver's error or by designation. Census and other documents suggest Isaac, Nancy and other family members used "WILKERSON" as the family surname. This additional memorial site has been placed here at the request of his decendants.
