Reggae Musician. A pioneering reggae producer and recording artist, in the late 1950s he began recording ska for Coxsone Dodd. After dabbling in reggae as well as ska for a few years, he moved to the other side of the booth and began producing reggae for top recording artists including Alton Ellis, Joe Higgs and Beres Hammond. However, perhaps his greatest achievement was accomplished outside of the recording studio. In the early 1970s, Eccles organized a traveling stage show that helped elect Jamaican socialist politician Michael Manley to prime minister.
