Fred Babler Feb. 19, 1876 – January 10, 1956
Funeral services for Fred Babler, 79 years of age, highly esteemed Mt. Pleasant township farmer, who passed away at 11 p. m. on Tuesday of last week at his farm home after an illness of 17 days, were held at 2 Friday afternoon in the Zwingli Evangelical and Reformed church.
The Rev. A. R. Achtemeier, church pastor, officiated, and burial was in Highland cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Albert Babler, John H. Baebler, Ralph Hammerly, Duane and Dick Lehr and Harvey Milbrandt. Honorary pallbearers were Wm. Buehl, Sr., Ulrich J, Elmer, Henry Stauffacher, Jacob Stauffer, Henry V. Baebler and Earl Feldt, Monticello, Fred C. Hammerly and Wilbert Rhyner, Albany, and Henry M. Marty, Sr., Monroe.
Born in Washington township Feb. 19, 1876, he was the son of Henry and Anna Blum Babler. He attended the Elmer rural school in Mt, Pleasant township and the Monticello
schools. On Sept. 14, 1905, he was united in marriage in Monticello to Mary Kuehni. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Babler had always farmed in Mt. Pleasant township and had been on their present farm since 1909.
Mr. and Mrs. Babler experienced the pleasure of observing their 50th wedding anniversary
Sept. 18, 1955, Mr. Babler served the Oak Shade school district as a board member at one time.
Mr. Babler was a member of the Zwingli Evangelical and Reformed church.
Held in high respect by all who knew him, Mr. Babler enjoyed the deep friendship of a great
many acquaintances, all of whom learned of his death with much regret.
Surviving are his wife; his step-mother, Mrs, Henry Babler, Sr.; three daughters, Misses Nona and Edna, at home, and Mrs. Walter Tryon, Mt. Pleasant township; one granddaughter; two brothers, Henry E, Babler, Monticello, and Jacob B. Babler, Monroe; one sister, Mrs.
Anna Kelling, Goldfield, Iowa: two half-brothers, Herman Babler, Monticello, and Clarence Babler, Richland Center; and two half-sisters, Mrs. J. F. Freitag, Monroe, and Mrs. R. J. Theiler, Madison, Mr. Babler was preceded in death by one brother, Ezra, in 1909, one sister, Mrs Fred C.
Marty, in 1938, and one half-brother, Marvin Babler, Appleton, in 1953.
