Fairhaven — Marion D. (Shurtleff) Shumway, 93, of Fairhaven, passed away March 8, 2008, at Our Lady's Haven in Fairhaven.

Marion was the wife of the late Orsman A. Shumway for 66 years. She was also the grandmother of the late Lynda C. Jordan.

Marion is survived by her children, Carolyn J. Marshall of Raynham and Howard A. Shumway and his wife, Muriel (Bunny) of E. Freetown and Hawaii. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Shurtleff and his longtime companion, Ruth Hahn of
Willimantic, Connecticut.

Marion was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven. She was born March 30, 1914, the daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Shurtleff.

She attended Fairhaven schools and was the oldest living member of the Unitarian Memorial Church where she was an active member of the Alliance, the Benevolent Society and helped publish the church newsletter, The Lance. Marion was a Past Worthy Matron of Gifford Chapter OES in Fairhaven and a Past Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls in New Bedford. She was also a member of various doll clubs in the area. Marion was an avid doll collector.

In her younger years, Marion worked at the Fairhaven Town Hall, Fairhaven Water Company and Shaneberg's in Fairhaven.

Marion is also survived by three grandchildren, two step grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 8:30AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, followed by a Graveside Service at 9:30AM in River-Side Cemetery, 274 Main St., Fairhaven. Calling hours are omitted by request. Reception immediately following service at Our Lady's Haven, 71 Center St., Fairhaven.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion's name to Our Lady's Haven Activities Dept., 71 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
